The lower cost of tablets would have meant more units could have been purchased and the device-to-student ratio would have been lower, the district’s technology director said.
For the second time this summer, District 181 board members turned down a proposed expansion of iPads for student use.
The Board of Education chose not to vote on a proposed three-year equipment lease endorsed by director of technology Eric Danley that would have brought in more than 400 iPads to replace desktop computers in the district’s computer labs.
The decision not to act came after the board turned away in June the @d181 Initiative’s recommendation to implement a one-to-one student-tablet ratio.
