1530 WJJG Elmhurst is a 760 watt blowtorch! Blowtorch? Well, not in the 50,000 watt sense of the term. But you know what they say: “It’s not the size of your broadcast tower. It’s how you use it.” We’re using every last drop.
1530 WJJG broadcasts Mancow Muller Weekdays from 7am-10am and 1pm-4pm. Sometimes controversial, always entertaining, Mancow is a Chicago Radio Star. 1530 WJJG is also the first radio station in America to air News from The Blaze.
1530 WJJG emanates from a secret broadcast bunker impervious to outside influences and hidden from plain site. It is strictly in this unique environment that the “talent” behind the presentation of 1530 WJJG can be properly inspired and motivated to create the wall of sound broadcast daily on 1530am.
The History of 1530 WJJG:
AM 1530 signed on the air October 10, 1974. The station’s call letters were WKDC representing the signal coverage in Will, Kane, DuPage and Cook counties. The studios were built for stereo (Cetec Sparta stereo audio euipment) although it was not until 1976 when the FCC authorized the station to test AM stereo. Daytime and night-time findings on AM stereo were presented at the 1977 NAB Convention in Washington, DC.
In 1994, AM 1530 changed its call sign to WJJG. The call letters stand for owner Joseph J. Gentile. Joe’s nickname is “The Baron Of Barrington,” where he owned a Chrysler-Plymouth dealership for many years.
WJJG’s hours of operation are determined by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) rule concurring daytime broadcasting and vary monthly with the changes in sunrise and sunset.
