Why Does the Devil in ‘The Bible’ Look Exactly like President Obama?

By: James Nye
Source: Daily Mail

Sunday evening’s episode of the History Channel’s hit series ‘The Bible’ threw up an awkward coincidence when viewers noticed that Satan bore a remarkable resemblance to President Obama.

Twitter exploded into life during the airing of the latest edition of the Mark Burnett-produced series with most noting the striking similarities between the 44th President and the devil played by actor Mehdi Ouzaani.

The show has been a surprise hit in the ratings, with the religious mini-series attracting 13.1 million viewers on Wednesday – topping television leviathan American Idol’s 12.8 million viewers on Wednesday.

Right-wing commentator and radio-host Glenn Beck first pointed out the eerie similarity on Saturday, tweeting, ‘Anyone else think the Devil in #TheBible Sunday on History Channel looks exactly like That Guy?’

Others were simply struck by the clear physical match.

While Matthew Gaudet commented, ‘Watching The Bible series on the History channel and noticed the guy playing the role of Satan, looks strikingly similar to Obama.’

The unfortunate incident bares comparison with HBO’s infamous inclusion of a fake George W. Bush head impaled onto a stick during the background of a Season 1 Game of Thrones episode.

Exclusive 2012 WCKG Voter Poll Released

President Barack Obama may be in for the political fight for his life nationwide, but his lead is safe in his home state of Illinois, according to a new poll released today.

A poll of 1200 randomly selected likely Illinois voters, conducted for WCKG AM 1530 between November 1-4, shows that President Obama leads his Republican rival Mitt Romney by more than fourteen points (54.3%-40.1%) heading into election day.  Two third-party challengers received 3% of the vote, and 2.6% said they were still undecided. The margin of error for the poll is 2.83%.

The poll was conducted with live interviewers of voters who use both land lines and cell phones.

The WCKG poll, the radio station’s first ever, is the final poll to be published about the Presidential race in Illinois.  “In the near future, we expect to become a major player in the news/talk radio format in Chicagoland,” station manager Matt Dubiel said today.  “This poll is a harbinger of a bigger and better presence by the ‘Voice of DuPage County,”

While the President is running behind his 2008 vote total in Illinois(61.8%), he maintains a solid base of support in his hometown of Chicago and Cook County, among women voters, and with African-American and Hispanic voters.  President Obama leads Governor Romney by a whopping 84.2%-11.3% in Chicago and by over twenty points in suburban Cook County(54.0%-41.9%), the poll said.

Governor Romney’s strongest showing geographically is in the vote-rich traditionally Republican collar counties, where he leads the President 52.1%-42.4%, according to the poll.  Romney also leads Obama in central Illinois(51.4%-42.7%), and in southern Illinois(50.0%-44.7%), the poll showed.

The poll also highlighted two competitive Congressional races.

8th Congressional District (Poll of 600 Likely Voters)(D) Tammy Duckworth 50.5%
(R) Joe Walsh 45.0%
Undecided 4.5%

The new 8th Congressional District consists of the northwest portion of the Cook County suburbs, northeastern DuPage County and primarily the Elgin area of Kane County.

Duckworth leads in both the Cook County portion of the district (53.6%-43.7%), and the smaller Kane County portion (53.7%-38.8%).  Walsh leads in DuPage County (48.3%-45.8%).

While both candidates hold wide leads among their own party members (Duckworth leads among Democrats 85%-10.2%, and Walsh leads among Republicans (86.2%-11.0%), Duckworth leads by five percentage points among Independents (49-44%).

11th Congressional District (Poll of 600 Likely Voters)(R) Judy Biggert 49.3%
(D) Bill Foster 46.3%
Undecided 4.4%.

The results of the poll from the 8th Congressional District in the race between Tammy Duckworth and Congressman Joe Walsh, as well as the 11th Congressional District match up between incumbent Congresswoman Judy Biggert and former Congressman Bill Foster will be released at the same time.

Romney Wins Illinois Primary

WGN TV

Former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney scored a decisive win in Tuesday night’s Illinois Republican presidential primary, CNN projected, putting him in position to pick up the lion’s share of 54 delegates up for grabs.

“Thank you, Illinois. What a night,” the candidate said in Schaumburg. “Elections are about choices. Today, hundreds of thousands of people in Illinois joined millions of people in this country in this cause.”

Romney resumed his front-runner attacks on President Barack Obama and his economic, health care and spending policies.

“The simple truth is this president does not understand the genius of this economy … the American economy is fueled by freedom,” Romney told cheering supporters.

Romney had leads in Chicago, suburban Cook County, DuPage County and Lake County, local clerk and election board results indicated. Santorum was faring better in smaller counties, including Winnebago, Peoria and Madison.

In Chicago, Romney had 56% of the total with 87% of precincts reporting. Santorum notched 25%. In Lake County, one of the “collar counties” near Chicago, Romney had 56% with all precincts reporting, according to the clerk’s office website. Santorum had 28%.

The delegates at stake in Illinois will be awarded proportionately, but for Romney, capturing the popular vote was just as important as increasing his lead in delegates.

“Romney won with tea party voters. He won with Catholics,” Romney spokeswoman Andrea Saul told CNN. “There are a lot of groups within the Republican party, and Governor Romney has won their votes. And we’re excited that it looks like we’ll have a good night tonight.”

Speaking in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, Santorum said he congratulated Romney for his win in Illinois.

“(The campaign) all boils down to (touting) freedom. I am pleased Gov. Romney adopted that theme in his speech tonight.”

Santorum said he did well in rural, more conservative areas away from the Chicago suburbs.

And he expected to do better in upcoming primaries and caucuses.

“We are feeling very, very good about winning Louisiana on Saturday,” Santorum told backers.

Romney finished third in Alabama and Mississippi primaries a week ago, behind Santorum and former House speaker Newt Gingrich. But unlike the Deep South states, Illinois has a large, somewhat moderate GOP electorate heavily concentrated in the suburban “collar counties” around Chicago.

White House Begins Wooing China’s Next President

USA Today

By Aamer Madhani

With the man who is in line to be China’s next president by his side, Vice President Biden barely hinted that the U.S.-China relationship is at a moment marked by growing strategic distrust between the two nations.

We are not always going to see eye-to-eye … but we have very important economic and political concerns that warrant that we work together,” said Biden, as he kicked off a bilateral meeting at the White House this morning with China’s Vice President Xi Jinping.

Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, U.S. Trade Representative Ron Kirk, Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack, Commerce Secretary John Bryson and U.S. Ambassador to China Gary Locke also sat in on the meeting.

President Obama later sat down with Xi in the Oval Office, and called Xi’s visit a chance to “build on” the U.S.-Chinese relationship.

“We welcome China’s rise,” Obama said. “We believe a strong and prosperous China is one that can help bring stability and prosperity to the region and the world.”

The president added that “we want work with China” on disputes that include trade rules and human rights.

Ahead of today’s meetings, administration officials framed the visit by Xi—who will become the Communist party leader this fall and is expected to succeed President Hu Jintao next March—as a getting-to-know-you moment with the man who will likely lead the emerging power for the next decade. But administration officials have made clear they don’t expect any great breakthroughs in the U.S.-China relationship this week.

Obama Campaign Throws Support To Obama Super PAC

CBS News

By Lucy Madison

The Obama campaign on Tuesday defended its decision to urge fundraisers to back the outside group backing his re-election bid, telling reporters the choice to reverse himself was approved by the president himself. The campaign late Monday announced that it was not going to unilaterally disarm in the face of a half billion dollars’ worth of contributions aimed at defeating President Obama. ”The president did sign off on this,” a senior campaign official, who asked to remain unidentified, said on a conference call with reporters. In an email distributed Monday, campaign manager Jim Messina said “we can’t afford for the work you’re doing in your communities, and the grassroots donations you give to support it, to be destroyed by hundreds of millions of dollars in negative ads.” As a result of the landmark 2010 Supreme Court decision Citizens United vs Federal Election Commission, super PACs can spend unlimited funds to support a candidate as long as they do not directly coordinate with the candidate’s campaign.
